JEE Main 2027 Preparations

Preparing for JEE Main 2027 requires deep conceptual understanding, strong analytical problem-solving skills, and disciplined time management under strict examination conditions. With over 14 lakh candidates competing for admissions in top NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, follow these proven preparation strategies:

  • Master NCERT Textbooks: NCERTs for Class 11 and 12 are the single most critical resource, especially for Chemistry (Inorganic & Organic) and foundational Physics/Math definitions.
  • Solve 5-Year Past Papers (2022-2026): PYQs help you decode chapter-wise weightage, recurring problem templates, and exact question difficulty levels across multiple shifts.
  • Maintain a Daily 3-Subject Routine: Allocate dedicated 2.5 to 3 hours daily to each subject rather than studying one subject for days at a stretch.
  • Practice Timed Mock Tests Weekly: Attempt full-length 3-hour computer-based mock tests simulating real exam shifts (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM) to build test stamina.
  • Maintain an Error Notebook: Log every question you get wrong in mocks or practice sessions, noting the exact conceptual pitfall or calculation slip for targeted revision.
  • Focus on High-Weightage Chapters: Prioritize Electrodynamics, Modern Physics, Mechanics, Coordination Compounds, GOC, Chemical Kinetics, Calculus, and Coordinate Geometry.
  • Eliminate Negative Marking in Numerical Questions: Since Section B has mandatory negative marking, avoid guesswork on numerical calculation questions.

When will the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 and Session 2 exams be conducted?

Is the 75% criteria applicable for JEE Main 2027 admissions?

Yes. To secure admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs through JoSAA counselling, candidates must secure at least 75% marks in their Class 12 board exams (65% for SC/ST/PwD) or be in the top 20 percentile of their qualifying board. However, there is no minimum percentage required simply to appear for the JEE Main entrance exam.

Is there negative marking in both MCQs and Numerical Value Questions for JEE Main 2027?

Are there optional questions in Section B for JEE Main 2027?

No. Under the standardized NTA pattern, Section B contains exactly 5 Numerical Value Questions per subject and all 5 must be attempted. Paper 1 has a total of 75 questions (300 Marks).

Can I appear for both Session 1 and Session 2 in JEE Main 2027?

Yes, candidates can appear for either one or both sessions. If a candidate appears in both sessions, the best of the two NTA percentile scores will be considered for preparing the final All India Rank (AIR) and merit list.
